William Morris Hunt |
(American 1824-1879)
"The Wood Gatherer"
10 x 19 (1860)
Hunt's work is primarily that of common life in rural America. He studied in Dusseldorf, Germany and then in Paris with Thomas Coutture. He then went on to sutdy with Jean-Francoise Millet who was his greatest influence. In this little gem one can see the hand of Millet with its sharp contrasts and wonderful range of Autumn colors.
