Not being satisfied with studying at one of the most important art schools with two of the most important painter/teachers of the 19th century, Gihon went to Paris for further study. Enrolling first with Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant at the Academie Julien, Gihon later transferred to the L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts to study with Jean-Leon Jerome, one of France's most celebrated artists. Gihon went on to exhibit works at the Salon des Artistes Independents and The Salon des Artists Francais, the "old school" salons and then on to the L'Expostion Universalle. Exhibitions: Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Royal Academy, London, Salons of the Societe Nationale Beaux-Arts, etc. |
