A student of Virgil Williams and Thomas Hill, and Carolus-Duran in Paris, Bloomer was accepted and exhibited at the world's most prestigious artist competitions: Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition, Paris Salon, Paris Expostion Universale, Royal Academy, London and others. Hiram Bloomer spend a great deal of his later life in France. He loved painting the rural life in the French countryside. The Burgundian landscapes with their rolling hills covered with vineyards, grazing cattle and and the small family farms were favorite themes. Bloomer was inducted into the National Academy, the highest honor an American painter could receive.
